Language Arts

A literature-rich exploration of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Learners will engage with shared books, poetry, journaling, oral storytelling, thoughtful discussion, vocabulary and creative writing—including personal narratives, descriptions, letters and collaborative pieces.

Themes and texts will change and evolve throughout the year, often weaving in content from the other offerings here at Inspire Roots. Language arts will connect learners to nature, community, and the group's emerging interests.

Activities will be thoughtfully scaled for ages 5–12. Younger learners may draw, label, copy words or dictate ideas to a facilitator; developing writers will build complete sentences and short pieces; and older learners will work with paragraphs, sensory detail, figurative language, literary analysis and more independent composition.
