Music

Creative Current brings fun and inspiring music classes to Inspire Roots! We will develop rhythm, voice, listening, instrumental skills and ensemble awareness through playful, hands-on classes. Children will sing, move, play percussion and melodic instruments, learn simple theory, create soundscapes, and compose original songs inspired by the greater Taos County landscape we are exploring in other classes. Our music will become a way to listen more deeply to place, translate ecological observations into rhythm and song, and contribute to Creative Current exhibitions, performances and community presentations.

As the year unfolds, the music will change and evolve with the seasons, the natural world and the themes moving through Inspire Roots. We will also follow the interests of our young musicians—bringing in instruments, songs and lessons inspired by what they are curious about and excited to learn, while giving them space to shape the direction of our shared musical journey.
