Hi, I’m a Musician/Performer, Teacher and Ecologist who is passionate about supporting the cultivation of vital life skills and knowledge through fun, engaging project based learning. I currently teach Elementary music in the Crestone Charter School in Colorado and local Ecology classes to all ages in both alternative and public schools in the San Luis Valley, CO.
I am excited to facilitate an experiential learning based curriculum which has been developed to foster creative ability, empowerment, deep integrative understanding and relationships with the natural world & each other, personal growth and well being.
My current classes are SE integrated and I take great care to support individual needs and interests at all learning stages. I am excited to use music, ecology and theatre classes as a vehicle to support other areas of learning in subjects like English, Science, Social Studies, Maths and Geology. My experience co-facilitating nature and elemental based wilderness summer camps and teaching in other outdoor settings such as the Cottonwood Restoration All Ages program, is that children thrive best when they are given the freedom to explore and grow within a safe and healthy container. It is a beautiful thing to tend mindfully to children and watch as they learn about themselves, the world and each other.
Current Ecology Projects – Through my work partnering with various organizations such as E3KFM, the Rio Grande National Forest Service, Fish & Wildlife, Saguache County Council and POA, I continue to implement various watershed restoration, regenerative forestry and fire mitigation projects in the Sangre de Cristo’s. I am excited to help foster connections to the local environment, the earth and water, to help align and support the development of healthy robust children within healthy robust local ecological habitats. I am also excited to develop partnerships and learning opportunities with local regenerative food systems and to help build connections with local sustainable food network partners. I’d love to hear from you on the contact page if you can help make a connection!
Music Classes – I create integrative, fun and engaging music lessons which are developed with both flexibility and progressive learning patterns, to support all other areas of learning and creative expression. Students will learn the musical language with solfège color coded materials and props. The curriculum will support opportunities for uninhibited musical exploration, free-play, optional structured collaborative musical experiences and individual development. Classes will tie into weekly and monthly school themes to support consistency and overall integration.
I am excited to facilitate at InspireRoots and look forward to connecting with the greater Taos community!
